Have you tried giving your brand a sensory recall among your customers using Sensory Marketing practices? Let's find out what needs to be done to start with this.

But first, try to answer these questions:

  • What is the sound of Netflix?

  • What is the color of Coke?

  • What is the smell of Singapore Airlines?

  • What is the taste of Maggi Noodles?

  • What is the feel of Apple products?

I am sure you are able to answer these questions quite easily. If not, you can easily remember all of those sensations the above brands use to trigger your senses.

Or, do you?

Yes, you are right, brands use several techniques to play with your 5 senses to trigger sensations that lead you to get in touch with their products or services.

We, humans, have 5 sensory points, i.e.

  • Eyes (sight),

  • Ears (sound),

  • Nose (smell),

  • Tongue (taste),

  • Skin (touch).

Marketers have used these sensory points to subconsciously condition you for their brand/product/service through several touchpoints that you encounter in your daily lives.

That associated brand color, that jingle in an advertisement, the smell of that product, that exclusive taste of a food or a beverage, or touch of a premium product, everything is done for a purpose.

It all goes to the subconscious mind of the consumers and are triggered when they get in contact with these familiar sensations.

Marketing is definitely a science and these are called Sensory Marketing practices.

Rule of 5 senses in Marketing & Engagement

Eyes, Ear, Nose, Tongue, & Skin

(Look, Listen, Smell, Taste, and Touch)

Engage customers at these 5 senses and they come and connect to you.

  1. 🌳Look - Design a Catchy Graphic, a good Copy, or an awesome video. Experiment with static and dynamic ideas.

  2. 🌳Listen - Provide them something to listen to, maybe a jingle, a podcast, or music.

  3. 🌳Smell - Hit their nose with something familiar and relaxing.

  4. 🌳Taste - Make them taste your product (in case you have a product that can be tasted), else provide them some treats.

  5. 🌳Touch - Make them interact with your products.

Try focusing three senses at once (the more the better) to make your customers engaged with your brand.

Eg: Apple store (hitting four senses at once)

Connect your brand to your customers with their sensory memory.
