Are people going immune to ads?
I mean I am very much immune to ads to an extent (or I maybe just thinking that way when in reality I may not).
I always keep my locations off, I do not give permissions to any app easily, I have switched off habit tracking by Google or any other software. I rarely watch TV, I always skip ads on YouTube or any other app. I detest push ads. Basically, I do everything to skip ads (sans any subscription).
The first reason I am raising this topic is that the younger generation has a very little attention span and if things are not lit, they will just skip to the next thing that they might find interesting.
Even if they don't have any remote in their hand, the smartphone takes them away from anything boring to anything happening.
And the second reason I am raising this is that there might be people around like me who hate ads as much as me.
So being a marketer, how can we or brands get the attention of creatures like me?
Outbound (push) vs Inbound (pull)
Every creature will buy stuff. If he/she hasn't heard of the product he/she will never buy that product. If he/she is listening to that product for the first time, he/she will go online to check its credibility.
So as a brand how can you build credibility without being pushy:
Invest in content (every type of)
Invest in building references, reviews
Opt for Influencer Marketing
Engage the creature with gamification, storytelling, cause marketing, talking in the language of your audience.
Product/Service Placement/Integration on the platform on which your TG spends the most time.
Use behavioral nudges to make your customers take action.
